Neighborly actions: now on Substack
Hi everyone,
Here we are on Substack now! I made this switch mainly so that if anyone joins me in making and sharing this list, it’ll be easier for them to do so. There are also some features here that I might goof around with that would let people talk with each other as well, which would be exciting and not something that the email list was set up for. I may also experiment with making it cuter, but that’s not something that I care about very much.
Regular actions will go out tomorrow. While I’ve got you here, a couple reminders of how this works:
The list includes things to do with and for our neighbors, including (but not limited to) direct actions, rallies and protests, mutual aid, celebration and ceremony, fundraising, direct giving, trainings, housing and job needs and opportunities, free stuff, legislative participation…
The actions I list come from social media posts (from both people and organizations) and tips. I am always glad to receive tips! If you want me to let the ~400 people on this list know about something that is happening in the greater Providence area, please write to me. At least 24 hours notice is best. The list goes out 1-3 times a week unless a situation is rapidly unfolding.
I don’t list things that are private or secret, and I don’t post people’s contact information without their permission, because the platforms I draw from and the platforms I use are pretty open.
While I do try to check the information I share in at least one place besides the place I found it (especially if it’s something big and public), occasionally I slip up, or my source does. Recipients have caught this for me in the past and I’ve been very grateful! Please let me know if something I share is inaccurate, or if you have a question or a challenge about something I list.
Also, please let me know at any time if you don’t want to receive these emails anymore.
Thank you all so much for joining in.
